-Our Mission-

Picture
We are GirlsBuild Wolfpack, a student-led initiative dedicated to empowering individuals to make a positive impact on mental health awareness and suicide prevention. This year, our primary focus is on dismantling the stigma surrounding mental illness, with the invaluable support of LA Promise, which provides both guidance and funding for our efforts and foster a compassionate, open-minded environment where many young people feel safe to express their feelings and seek help when needed.

Our key goals for the year include:
  • Hosting a Virtual Mental Health Assembly: A collaborative event featuring students, staff, mental health experts, and celebrities to foster open dialogue and promote mental health awareness.
  • Participating in the Directing Change PSA Contest: Engaging in a statewide effort to share compelling, impactful messages about mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Partnering with Maywood and Cudahy City Councils: Working with local government officials to declare May as Mental Health Awareness Month, reaching over 50,000 residents with crucial information and resources.
Through these initiatives, we are committed to spreading hope, resilience, and meaningful change within both our school and broader community.  See our journey by clicking on the link below:
Our Journey

-ABOUT-

Mental health is often misunderstood which is why in GirlsBuild, we focus on creating a safe and supportive environment for discussing mental health, particularly for young women. Our mission is to foster a compassionate, open-minded environment where many young people feel safe to express their feelings and seek help when needed. Too many of us suffer in silence which is why we hope to raise awareness, provide helpful resources and inspire others to seek the help they deserve.

-GirlsBuild LA-

Girls Build LA is a transformative program designed to empower girls in Los Angeles County public schools. It challenges middle and high school girls to step into leadership by equipping them with the tools and support needed to design and implement impactful, community-driven solutions. Through this initiative, students identify local challenges and are given the resources to create meaningful, lasting change. By fostering leadership, creativity, and civic engagement, Girls Build LA helps young women become powerful agents of change in their communities.
